Vast collection of state archives resulting from the amalgamation in June 1988 of the Public Record Office of Ireland (founded 1867) and the State Paper Office (founded 1702). Many archives were destroyed in the fire of June 1922. Included are records of government departments, Chief Secretary's Office, Courts and Probate registries, and transcripts of many of the collections lost in 1922.

ACCESS CONDITIONS

The collection is freely available to the public from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. Some material must be ordered a day in advance. There is no ILL or photocopying facility, but photography may be arranged on request.
