Note(s) | This article discusses the history of a statue group which once stood in the grounds of the Boyd manor house. The remaining fragments depict an armoured male and 2 females, parts of beasts and a fragment featuring a gorgon's head. Digital reconstructions are included in the article. The statue is of a Greco-Roman and South/Central Asian style design, but without direct parallel in any known sculpture. It was assumed to have been from India, however there is an almost exact match of the statue stone locally in an area owned by the Boyd family at the time. |
