Note(s)The author looks at the history of Springhill house, three hundred years after its construction in the late 17th century. He discusses interior features such as room partitions, wallpaper, furnishings, paintings and the library which has been described by Mark Purcell as 'the single most important surviving country house library in Ireland'. The house was donated to the care of the National Trust in 1957.
